Pixel Pets / Troubleshooting

Pixel Pets not showing in Chrome?

Start with a normal website in a regular Chrome window. Pixel Pets appears along the bottom of web pages, not on your desktop or inside the Chrome toolbar. Use the checks below to distinguish an unsupported page from a visibility setting.

1. Check the page you are testing

Chrome protects pages such as the Chrome Web Store and chrome:// settings pages from extension scripts. The New Tab page is not an ordinary website either. Open an article or another regular https:// page to test.

Pixel Pets also skips PDF documents, standalone images and XML documents. A pet missing from those pages is expected. The online playground can show you the artwork and behavior, but because it runs its own preview, seeing a pet there does not prove your extension is working on other sites.

2. Reload a tab that was already open

If you installed or re-enabled the extension while a website was already open, reload that tab once. Then look at the very bottom edge of the window. Open the Pixel Pets toolbar popup and select a free pet, such as the Shiba, as a simple test.

3. Check Hide and the per-site switch

In the toolbar popup, make sure Hide is off. That switch controls pets everywhere. If the current site has been disabled, turn it back on with the site switch. You can also review the blocked-sites list under All settings.

A blocked domain also covers its subdomains. For example, blocking example.com also hides pets on docs.example.com. If the pet works on one website but not another, this is worth checking before reinstalling.

4. Check Chrome's extension and site-access settings

Open Chrome's Extensions menu, choose Manage extensions, and confirm Pixel Pets is enabled. In its details, review whether the extension has permission to run on the site you are testing. Site access and Pixel Pets' own per-site switch are separate controls.

If an organization manages your browser, ask its administrator about restrictions. Google's extension troubleshooting guide covers installation and compatibility issues. Chrome on phones cannot run this extension; use a desktop Chromium browser for installation.

5. Leave fullscreen, or check whether it is simply still

Pixel Pets hides over fullscreen content and is excluded from printouts. Leave fullscreen and return to the website to check again. Animations pause while the tab is in the background.

If the pet is visible but does not move or hop, your system may have reduced motion enabled. Pixel Pets respects that preference. A sleeping pet in normal motion mode wakes when you scroll. These cases are different from an invisible pet.

6. If only Pro pets are unavailable

The free version includes the Shiba, tabby cat and rubber duck. After a refund or a licence move to another browser, a previously selected Pro pet falls back to a free pet and the companion count falls back to one. That should not make all pets disappear.

If you purchased Pro for this browser, open All settings and check the licence section. Your key comes from the payment confirmation page. See the delivery instructions for details.

Still need help?

Contact Pixel Pets support with your browser version, operating system, extension version, whether it happens on every site, and the steps you tried. Include only a public example URL if needed. Do not post your licence key, payment details or private page contents.
